"I photograph dancers for the same reason I dance; it makes me happy." - R.L. Milstein
I am a scientist, photographer, and performer. In 2000, I was asked to perform in a production of "The Nutcracker" ballet and began taking my cameras to rehearsals and performances. Over the years my photography has evolved into a non-traditional vision of dance and dancers meant to express the intense energy and emotion of dance, as well as the passion, strength, and trust of dancers.
All my dance images are taken during live performances with Nikon D-SLR cameras and Nikkor lenses.
Over the last ten years I have started a side-project photographing portraits of cosplayers at "Comic Cons". I find the postive energy, upbeat atmosphere, courage, and creative efforts of the costumed convention goers a wonderful environment and unique photographic opportunity.
